To recognise the critical enabling capability that technology provides to the operations of the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), a new Intelligence and Information Systems Division has been created. This will be led by the former Chief Information Officer (CIO) Stewart Sibree.
Mr Sibree will act in the position of Executive Director until the position is advertised and permanently filled. Mr Sibree has previously acted in the position of Executive Director Technology from December 2019 to May 2021.
Samuel Lewis will take up the position of CIO from 24 January 2022. Having spent many years with the agency, Mr Lewis brings a wealth of technical knowledge and experience to this role. He has been in the role of Chief Technology Officer since December 2019. Most recently Mr Lewis acted as the CIO from 6 December 2021 to 5 January 2022.
The CIO Branch ensures the availability, continuity and security of the ACIC’s ICT, supporting critical national law enforcement, intelligence, research and corporate information systems both domestically and overseas.
