Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) was created to give the community access to information hosted by Australian Government ministers and most agencies.

To find out how to make an FOI request to the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) go to the Freedom of Information process page.

We recognise that public sector information is a national resource managed for public purposes.

The disclosure log lists information that our agency has released in response to FOI access requests.

Part 2 of the FOI Act establishes an Information Publication Scheme (IPS) for Australian Government agencies subject to the FOI Act.

To the extent permitted by legislation, the ACIC promotes a culture of appropriate proactive disclosure similar to that required by the IPS.
