Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Western Australia Police
Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Division have seized over 30 kg of Methylamphetamine and almost 5 kg of MDMA as part of a joint investigation between WA Police Force and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission.
The investigation resulted in search warrants recently being executed at residences in Morley Drive in Dianella, Morley Drive East in Morley and Orlestone Street in Gosnells.
It will be alleged just over 32.5kg of Methylamphetamine and more than 4.9kg of MDMA was seized from the Dianella residence, while $5,050 cash and other items of interest to the investigation were seized from the Gosnells residence. Yesterday, Thursday 28 March 2019, a 30-year-old man from Gosnells and a 41-year-old man from Morley were arrested.
Both men been charged with two counts of Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply. They have been refused bail and are due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow, Saturday 30 March 2019.
Detective Senior Sergeant Doug NELSON from WA Police Force’s Serious and Organised Crime Division said removing such a large amount of illicit drugs from the streets is an important outcome for the community.
“The damage Methylamphetamine causes to individuals, their families and the wider community is well known and to remove such a large amount of the harmful drug from the streets is a win for everyone in the community.
“Given the amount of both Methylamphetamine and MDMA that was located we are confident we have disrupted an established criminal network and our investigation into other people who may be linked to them is ongoing.
“Established criminal networks, particularly those involved in the illicit drug trade, know no boundaries and the ongoing partnerships between WA Police Force and Commonwealth law enforcement and intelligence agencies to identify and investigate such networks continue to deliver results for the WA community.”
