Charges laid in relation to NCA bombing

Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, South Australia Police

South Australia Police have today charged a male for murder and attempted murder.

This is a significant outcome for the investigation into the bombing of the National Crime Authority (NCA) South Australia office in March 1994. The bombing resulted in the death of Detective Sergeant Geoffrey Bowen, a Western Australia Police detective on secondment to the NCA, and the serious injury of NCA lawyer Peter Wallis.

The NCA was a predecessor to the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and this outcome will bring to a close this significant and long-running investigation. I’d like to thank the South Australia Police for the ongoing dedication and persistence of its officers. I also acknowledge former Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission Chief Executive Officer Chris Dawson APM for his role in supporting the investigation.
